Scottish Photographer's Gallery

My thesis project proposes a permanent home for the Scottish National Photography Collection, a place where visual records of Scotland can be stored, maintained and displayed to the public. The building however will not only concentrate on the past but also on the current and future work produced by Scottish photographers, with a flexible temporary exhibition space. Educational facilities including a 150 seater auditorium, seminar rooms and library will help to inform both photography enthusiasts and the public on current trends in photography and provide an accessible resource centre. It is important that the public get an insight into the workings of the archive and how the photography is conserved, whilst still maintaining a controlled, secure environment.
